I am very serious about that.
Anyway, hello 2020! I know I’ve been sporadic at best with posting here, but my 2019 got pretty busy towards the end. I started a coding academy, moved out on my own (whew!) and had to adjust to life on my own again. But for all the chaos 2019 threw my way, I’ve ended up having a pretty decent year!
I sewed more of my own clothes, read nearly 60 books (!), met a lot of new people and have a new city to explore. I’ve learned a lot of new, helpful skills, and have fallen in love with coding. And I’m even more excited to see what 2020 holds for me.
If you’ve read or listened to Girl, Wash Your Face, then you know what I mean when I say I’ve made promises to myself. They’re like goals, but ones I feel actually guilty about breaking. Because if I can’t be accountable to myself, who can I be accountable to? So, rather than create goals for myself, I’ve made 5 promises to myself for the year.
My 2020 Promises To Myself
- Eat at least 4 cups of veggies a day.
- Move my body to sweat 5x/week.
- Take the time to explore and be curious.
- Don’t watch TV to have background noise.
- Take myself seriously.
These are all promises I’ve made to help myself feel my best. Some are obvious, like numbers 1 and 2. Others are more personal or have a specific motivation to free up my time/mind. I am so used to popping on the TV to have noise in the background, but I don’t actually watch what’s happening. Instead, why not pop on a record from my collection, listen to a podcast or audio book, or listen to a new-to-me playlist?
