No, I’m not taking questions at this time.
Do you feel that? The earth awakening, getting ready to sprout and bloom and come to life again? Do you smell that? No, it’s not the desolation of winter, it’s the joy of blooming spring!
Is it obvious I’m over winter yet? Cause I am. And have been since winter started. Before even. Because winter is the worst. And summer. They’re tied for the worst. Again, I will not be accepting questions at this time.
But spring, oh delightful spring! With its warmer, but not too warm, temperatures, allergiens blooming and new life growing. I can feel myself coming alive when the days start to get longer and warmer, the air filled with the fresh breath of new. Spring, not winter is a time for resolutions. Who wants to start a workout regime when it’s colder than the actual arctic outside? Not me!
So, in the spirit of spring resolutions, I’m making a few myself!
- Go on a mini adventure to a new place once a month. It doesn’t have to be an epic trip, or even a trip at all! Visiting a new museum in town, or a new coffee shop or park with my dog, would be enough. In the past I felt like all my adventures needed to get me OUT of where I was, which is understandable given I live in Indiana right now. But my town recently ranked in the top 20 for best places to live in the US, so maybe I should devote some time to getting to know the grown up version of it. We’ve both changed since high school, and it’s time to get reacquainted.
- Read more books! In the sun! Because spring is here! Plus, my dog likes being in the sun and I like spending quality time reading and lounging with her, so it’s a win-win.
- Be more active! Again, in the sun! I’ve always been the type who desperately wants to love hiking but absolutely abhors it. Maybe this year will finally be the year it changes? Or at least I’ll support my state parks by buying a pass and pretending that made a difference to my life style. Who knows! All I know is using the stationary bike at home while watching The Bachelor has gotten rather stale.
- Pay it forward once a week. I think my life’s purpose is to bring joy to the world in one way or another. And I want to live out that purpose in big and small ways. One way I can easily make that happen is by taking the time to pay it forward. Even if it’s just holding the door for someone, small acts of kindness are the best.
